Fall Tablescape

Wow, I can't believe its that time of year already. I feel like summer went by sooo fast.  However, this is my favorite time of year so I guess I can't complain!

Anyway, I created a simple and elegant tablescape this year. I'm all about tradition, traditional colors and ideas. I always like add a little twist and put my signature touch on it.

This year I went light, green and white instead of orange.

Lets take a look:

So there you have it, my traditional green and white fall tablescape.  Let me know what you think!!

Trees... Well sorta!

Well hello, I hope your weekend was great. Mine went quite well. Just finishing up the dining room makeover. A few little things to be done then I will reveal it!

But.. I have an awesome project for everyone. My mom helped on this one again, I really do admire her creativity. We compliment each other quite well when it comes to decorating.

So, I know you have all seen these, they are called Teardrop Swags:

Do you see where my mind is going?  How it works. What if you flipped it over, what does it look like?  A tree right.

Ok, here's the back store. I told you about these great urn vases I got from Lowe's back when I showed you my front porch makeover.  I have been looking for "trees" to fill those for winter, after the mums kicked the bucket.

I've looked every where, I mean all over the place. I didn't want to spend a ton because they are going outside and half of everything out there ends up behind my neighbors house, I have crazy wind issues. :) Anyway, I was in Ac Moore a couple nights ago looking for trees. I didn't see any. But my mom spotted these:

And then she flipped it upside down and fluffed it up a bit. I was like yes that's what I was looking for. AND they were 8.99, 8.99 people. Compared to skimpy trees at like $30 and up. One problem, how is it going to stand up? Because the ends look like this:

Enter hubby... and a block of wood and a drill bit...

I stuck it in the hole and it stood up.

I also buried them a bit in the dirt in the urn's. Just so they don't fall over or blow away. So here you go!

Here is both of them on the porch...
Just a touch of fall, just for a few more days... Then...

What do you think?  Let me know?  Also remember to link back to me if you decide to do this project and share, I would really appreciate it!

Thanks!!

Fall Porch!

Hello Hello, how are ya!  I'm doing just fine today. It's been a long week so far. I have been doing alot to get ready for winter :( :(. Painting, painting, cutting bushes, painting, cleaning lawn equipment, and did I mention painting. Inside and out, we have ugly, hideous, window trim. I mean its nice, its just stained. Not my style, I like clean, white, window trim, and I am FINALLY getting to it, little by little.

Anyway,  I have been working on the front porch for a couple weeks. Making sure I have all the right things in the right places. I'm still not 100% with the table, I think there are two many legs going on everywhere. But that's just me being OCD. Be sure to check out my fall mantle here.
 Here it is:

I took these in the evening, so the sun was shining right onto the porch. I think it makes for a great photo, even though there are shadows everywhere.
The hay bales are from Michael's and the lantern from Kirkland's. :)
My summer flowers, hanging baskets, did so well up here this year that I cant just get rid of them yet. Hence the big purple bushes in the top of this picture. :) I also hung a candle chandelier
I also added the concrete planters on either side of the doorway. I got these at Lowe's for about $17 each. Let me tell you I can even lift them, solid concrete. They will be staying there for a while :)

Lets all remember the before:

Some new additions to the mantle!

Hi All, hope you had a great weekend. I went to our local pumpkin patch this weekend and picked up some awesome white pumpkins to add to our mantle and I think they add a nice touch. I have just finished the front porch and I think it looks great. That will be coming soon. You can check out my previous post on this here.

Here are a few photos:

Evolution of design...A Fall Mantle

We all know I have design add, I changed the family room again!  Twice actually, my husband is ready to kill me, :) :).  Anyway, I will be showing you that again after a few more posts about other things. I literally can’t even stand it myself right now. Ever since we moved in to this house that room has been a nightmare, never really came together like the others.  My mom says I need to paint, and then it will come together. Completely shocked myself with this one, never thought I would end up with something like this.

Fall is one of my most favorite times to change things up. I love the colors, the cool days, and the green grass. I swear fall is the best time of year. I always get super excited this time of year because as far as decor goes, there is so much of it around. All different types depending on your taste. Eclectic, traditional, whimsical, and even classic.

My advice is always to choose 1 style. Don't just pick things you like because it will, most likely, never come together quite right. Also, colors, my rule is 2 main colors and if I'm brave a 3'd accent color. I.E. my master, cream (main), gray (secondary), brown (accent).  To many more than that it will become cluttered and "noisy". My last main piece of advice is size of accessories. Think of a accessorizing a room like you accessorize yourself, less is more.  I.E a mantle should make a statement. You should be able to see it and everything on it from 10 feet away or more. Otherwise from that distance it will just look like a pile of junk.

So there you have it, you’re an expert now right?? Anyway, here is my transformation from summer to fall, in a few places...

Sorry can only show you the table, the room is in the middle of a slight transformation, don't want anyone seeing just yet!!  I think it’s kind of early for fall decorating, I think October is a good month to start but I just couldn’t wait!  I should want to wait because after fall comes winter, :( and all that snow for 6 months :( :(

Hope you have a great rest of your week!
