Hello! Hello! Hope you are having a great week. The family room accessory update is complete (for now)!! I remembered I had some small accessory updates in the master bedroom. When I showed you the spare bedroom redo here I told you that I took the chair from the master bedroom. Well that left me with a gaping hole in the wall. I was used to sitting in it and watching TV or putting my socks on and my husband was used to throwing his dirty clothes on it :)  So I had to find a new one, I didn't want to spend a lot of money and I knew it had to be comfortable. So I went to my local furniture store, thinking I was going to pick up a clearance or "last one" type of deal. But as I was walking around I saw this cute little chair that would be perfect. I was so excited, and it was only $150. I thought that was a good deal for an armchair.

I know its been a while, but I have been busy. This project was supposed to be quick, yea right!  If you know anything about me then you know I tend to obsess easily as well as demand perfection. I've been called a perfectionist a few times in my day!  I don't think there is anything wrong with perfection, however, I can interfere with daily function sometimes :)

So in my first post to you I told you that I hated my family room. I guess "hate" is a really strong word. It was more dysfunctional and not "perfection", you know, what I'm always looking to accomplish. I also told you that I could change it for about 200 dollars. Well 200 was a bit steep, I am at about 300 dollars, more like 275. But I think the extra was worth it in the end. I never knew how hard a "perfect pillow" search would be. Seriously, I feel like pillows were consuming my life <--- weird. Anyway, I took a ton, like a gaaaaaazzzzillion photos. Here they are:

You remember the before:

It's hard to believe that 10 years has passed since that terrible day of tragedies started to unfold. I was a young high school student in art class when the rumblings started. At first I thought what a terrible thing. This would soon turn into the most terrible thing I would have been exposed to in my short lifetime. My life, and the lives of my young classmates would be changed forever. Everything I do, and everywhere I go would in some way be a reflection of the events of that day. As we relive today and let the pain emerge again I can only hope that good comes from the memories and our world can only become a better place. I was a young 16 year old at the time and one of my most striking memories in the days after the attacks was the generosity from people. I worked at McDonald's at the time and they had the Ronald McDonald house bins outside of the drive through window open for donations. I started my shift after school at 3 pm and by then it was so full of money for the Red Cross that it had to be emptied. Every single person donated money that day. It wasn't just 1 or 2 dollars but 20, 50 and 100 dollars. Till this day it still strikes me as amazing. That was the world I wanted to live in everyday.

As the wife of a firefighter I can't help but feel the pain of the other widows left to pick up the pieces that these men left behind. Their legacy is left with every firefighter in the United States in some way. Firemen are a special breed of individuals. Their spirit and bravery is something they all carry with them everyday. Commodore and brotherhood are words often thrown around to describe the bond between firefighters. These, however, aren't just words they are actual symbols of a real family that exists, not by blood but not any less significant.

In 2001 I never knew I would be married to a firefighter and how hard it actually is. Every time the bells go off and I know he is risking his life to take care of another person who needs him. There have been many occasions that have been cut short because of this, many dinners left on the table to get cold, and family events, holidays, left without question.  I love my husband for the man that he is and for the sacrifices he makes for others everyday. Special people on this earth, I believe are born for this one and only job, are firemen.

Today is a day of remembrance, sorrow and American commodore. It is a day that everyone will never forget.  God Bless America!!!!

So it can be done!! I updated the family room to be a more cohesive style. I even splurged for the pottery barn pillows. However, I did end up spending around 250 and not 200. It was a bummer. But I just cant find good pillows anywhere. I hate it. I could have went into target and got something that I "liked" but why not go for something I LOVE! So I have been on the hunt for some new pillows. I have now come to hate throw pillows. They make or break a room, I think. And if they are wrong you spent a ton of money for nothing. From my research a good large couch pillow is about $30 retail. I guess you could make them yourself, but I really don't have time to do all that. Plus once you buy the fabric its yours. Pillows, you can try and take back if you don't like them. So in comes my pottery barn pic I showed in the last post.

But yea, those pillows weren't happening, like 450 for 5, yea right. over my dead body. So I went searching there website. They have:


I got two of each, my pillows from the couch should fit in them just fine. I do want to get down inserts so I will be on the lookout for those.  They were all $30 each with free shipping, and most of the pillows I have found are 30 or more. So I just decided to pick some that I would love. I think these will go great on the couch.
